Certifications

The Educator Preparation Program at TWU offers initial teacher certification and professional certification through a number of different degree programs from multiple colleges throughout the university.

The following will indicate colleges that house the certification and degree:

  • COPE: College of Professional Education
  • CAS: College of Arts & Sciences
  • CHS: College of Health Sciences

Students seeking degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Health Sciences should contact the appropriate advisor below in addition to scheduling a meeting with OEPS. For advising or help with the certification process, email copeadvising@twu.edu.

Early Childhood and Elementary School Options

Early Childhood: PK-3

All EC: PK-3 certifications are available through the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

Early Childhood - 6th Grade: EC-6

All EC-6 certifications are available through the Bachelor of Science in Education.

Middle School Options

Grades 4-8

All certifications below except for Math, Social Studies and Science are available through the Bachelor of Science in Education.

The Undergraduate Minor in Education prepares educator candidates for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) exam (State Board for Educator Certification through the Texas Education Agency). If you are a resident of another state, contact the Office of Educator Preparation Services to determine whether our program fulfills requirements to take the certification exam in your home state.
