Texas Woman's Nutrition & Food Sciences department has several student organizations that provide you with professional growth opportunities and accomplishments - resulting in a more impactful college experience.

Food & Nutrition Network

Purpose: The TWU FNN is a student-led organization open to students of all majors who are passionate about nutrition, while catering specifically to those in Nutrition pathways. The group focuses on:

  • Networking with fellow students, faculty, and nutrition professionals

  • Providing leadership opportunities and professional development through guest speakers and membership with professional organizations 

  • Performing community service 

  • Sponsoring the Pioneer Pace 5k Run/Walk

Dues: $20 per semester and $35 for the academic school year

NFS Graduate Club

Purpose: The NFS Graduate Club is an organization for all interested Nutrition and Food Sciences graduate students. Its purpose is to promote nutrition awareness and healthful eating practices to the TWU, Denton and Dallas/Fort Worth communities. The club meets monthly to hear guest speakers, plan service events and network with faculty, researchers, practitioners and experts in industries related to nutrition and dietetics.

Dues: $20 per year

Nutrition Graduate Student Association

Purpose: This association meets monthly and provides opportunities for graduate students to:

  • Explore various career paths in nutrition and food sciences
  • Promote healthy eating among university students

Dues: $10 per year

Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society - Alpha Alpha Chapter

Purpose: This national honor society in family and consumer sciences meets bi-monthly and offers an environment empowering lifelong learning, leadership building, and ethical and scholastic excellence. 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Completion of 36 semester hours
  2. Top 35 percent of the class in general scholarship
  3. Majoring in family and consumer sciences, fashion and textiles or nutrition and food sciences
  4. Exhibits potential for professional and community leadership, spirit of service, personal integrity and professional attitude

Dues: $80 lifetime membership

NFS Food Science Club

Purpose: The NFS Food Science Club is an organization for all students with an interest or passion for the science of food. Its mission is to foster networking amongst TWU students, provide valuable opportunities to build know how and connections with TWU alumni already working in the food industry, as well as expand their knowledge, gain professional insights, and build relationships with other food scientists in the Denton and Dallas/Fort Worth area. The club meets monthly to engage with guest speakers, plan events and network with other food science students, faculty, alumni, and experienced food scientists in the food industry.
