2023 Summer camps
Our Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic offers a variety of summer camps. Sessions are led by master's level graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists. Laughing and Feeding with Friends (LAFF Camp)
- Ages 3-6
- June 5-15, 2023
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Cost: $250
LAFF camp focuses on helping children develop readiness and acceptance of trying new foods while improving language and social skills. Children work in small groups and each child has an assigned speech pathology graduate student to explore and investigate foods of various colors, smells, textures and tastes. Language skills are addressed as we describe the different foods and what we can do with them.
Did you know you can stretch, squish, bend, cut, fold, squeeze and pinch a Fruit Roll-Up? Parents/caregivers are encouraged to participate so activities learned in LAFF camp can be carried over and practiced at home.
CHAMP Camp
- Ages 4-8
- July 3-14, 2023 (pre-camp assessment June 29-30)
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Cost: $250
CHAMP Camp is a 2-week intensive camp for children with a confirmed diagnosis of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and no underlying physical or psychological conditions. This camp incorporates Integral Stimulation Therapy paired with language and literacy intervention in large and small groups. Large group thematic activities along with fun and creative motor activities will also be included. Parent education will be provided each day by a supervisor and graduate student to provide up-to-date information on CAS as well as carry-over activities and strategies for generalization to the home.
Superhero Literacy Camp
- Ages 8–11 (Grades 3-5)
- June 19-30, 2023 (pre-camp assessment June 15-16)
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Cost: $250
Come join us for two weeks of heroic fun, taking on the superpowers of successful reading and spelling. Our camp heroes will (1) conquer the code of sound awareness, (2) dare to use word part s to improve vocabulary, decoding and spelling, and (3) become champions of reading comprehension and writing.
Super PALS
- Ages 3–6
- July 17-28, 2023
- Monday through Friday
- 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Cost: $250
Super PALS Camp is for pre-school children who have been identified with moderate to severe speech and language impairments. Treatment utilizes intensive speech and language stimulation using storybook unit s, naturally occurring routines, motor activities and social interactions.
Individual Therapy
- All ages
- June 14 – July 28, 2023
- Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays
- 45-minute sessions
- Cost: $225
Slots are available for individual therapy for children and adults in the areas of speech disorders (including apraxia, articulation and phonological disorders), voice, fluency and language.
