English, Rhetoric & Spanish
The TWU English, Rhetoric and Spanish Program is a center for the study of literature, language and writing. As one of the university's founding departments, our history is long and rich, and our legacy is an ongoing commitment to preparing and empowering students for active participation in society's discourses.
As a student in our program, you will be encouraged to network with your peers in one of our student organizations and gain professional experience through an internship at our tutoring center, The Write Site, or TWU's student newspaper, The Lasso. If you are interested in expanding your horizons, we can help you learn Spanish and even travel abroad.
Statement on Black Lives Matter and Anti-Racist Teaching
Recently, we as a program have reflected on how we can meaningfully recognize and respond to the numerous and horrific accounts of police brutality that have long terrorized minorities nationwide, including in our own state. We promise to give our students a place to grieve with us the loss of Breonna Taylor, Carlos Ingram Lopez, Ahmaud Arbury, George Floyd, and Rayshard Brooks, and many others murdered by police officers and racist vigilantes.
