Graduate Student Orientation
Welcome to Graduate School at TWU!
Congratulations on your acceptance to graduate school at Texas Woman’s University! You’ve taken a bold step toward advancing your education, your career, and your future—and we’re thrilled to have you here.
What you need to know
At TWU, there is a general online New Graduate Student Orientation that is coordinated by the Graduate School. You will receive communication about this from the Graduate School via email in early August and the orientation will be open starting Monday, August 18. In addition, your academic department may also have a program-specific orientation. Be on the lookout for communication from your department about what to expect and how to prepare.
To learn more about your specific graduate program and connect with your department, visit the Programs & Majors page.
For general information, resources, and support services available to you as a graduate student, check out our website. Whether you’re looking for funding opportunities, thesis/dissertation guidelines, or professional development resources—we’ve got you covered.
Welcome to the next chapter of your journey.
How to participate in Graduate Student Orientation
On August 18th, log into Canvas at twu.instructure.com, using your Pioneer Portal username and password. On your Dashboard, select the course titled New Graduate Student Orientation.
Orientation materials will be there for you in the Canvas site, where you’ll also have opportunities to engage with other students on the discussion board.
On Wednesday, August 20th, at 6 p.m., we will have a virtual session with current TWU graduate students. The panelists will share their experiences as graduate students at TWU. You will have the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session. This graduate student panel discussion is a highlight of the week; students often tell us how much they appreciate the opportunity to hear from more experienced graduate students.
