Student Internship Funding Program
The Student Internship Funding Program is designed to provide financial support for students at TWU who are completing an unpaid internship off-campus. This program is available based on available grant funding. Students must be enrolled for the semester in which they are completing their unpaid internship.
Students selected for this program will receive financial support for completing an unpaid internship.
Selected participants will receive:
- Hourly pay of $20.00 per hour
- Total payment not to exceed $3,000 *before taxes
If selected, students will work with TWU’s Human Resources Office to complete all new hire paperwork.
Students will need to meet the minimum of 8 weeks and 96 total hours of an internship experience. For the purposes of this grant program, internships are not synonymous with coops, practicums, clinicals, and/or student teaching.
Requirements
To qualify for this program, student:
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at Texas Woman’s University.
- Must be enrolled for the semester in which they are completing their unpaid internship.
- Must have completed 12 credit hours at TWU.
- Must complete a minimum of 8 weeks and 96 total hours of an internship experience.
- Must be currently completing an off-campus unpaid internship. The internship activity may not be political or sectarian and cannot be more than 25% administrative work.
- Must be completing the internship in the state of Texas.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Student application
Student applications open on Monday, February 26, 2024. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and selection of students will be based on availability. Space is limited. We welcome all students who meet the requirements to apply, but priority consideration will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding from our program.
Students must use their TWU email address in order to access the form.
In the application, you will need to upload:
- the offer letter or a written form of communication confirming the details of your internship at the company/organization, and
- a copy of your job description/job responsibilities.
If you do not have these two forms, please ask your hiring manager to provide you with a letter. An email notification will suffice, but will need to be made into a PDF and submitted.
Program orientation
Students that are accepted are required to complete a program orientation module, and will not begin to receive funding for their unpaid internship until they complete all requirements.
