Health Care Services

Student Health Services, Jones Hall
Licensed health care providers offer primary and preventative health care services to TWU students similar to what is offered by a family physician. Some types of appointments can be done virtually. Nominal $ for services. Can be billed to TWU student account.

Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), Jones Hall
Licensed psychologists and mental health clinicians provide individual, group and urgent mental health care services to TWU Students. Some virtual appointments are available. For 24/7 urgent crisis support, call 940.898.HELP (4357)
crisis support.

Counseling & Family Therapy Clinic, Woodcock Hall, 114
Student training clinic in the Department of Human Development, Family Studies and Counseling. Supervised student therapists provide counseling for students, children families, and couples. Nominal $ for services.

Online Health Services

TimelyCare

Virtual, scheduled counseling sessions provided by licensed clinicians. Intended for use by students who are unable to access services at TWU CAPS. Students may access up to 6 university-sponsored sessions each year. Available evenings and weekends. A limited number of university-sponsored sessions are available annually and are accessed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Provides academic accommodations for disabled students.

Basic Needs Support

CARE, Welcome Center at Brackenridge Hall, G30
Resource center to help students access basic needs support including food, personal hygiene items, and off-campus housing. Provides individualized support for sub-populations including veterans, parenting students, returning adult learners and students who are adopted or aged out of foster care.

First Gen Computer Loan Program
Provides temporary access to laptops to first generation college students. Computers are available on a semester-by -semester basis for up to 16 weeks.

Student Life Emergency Aid Fund (SEAF)
Provides small grants to help eligible students to address one- time, unexpected emergency financial needs unrelated to tuition and fees.

Student Life Emergency Loan Program
Provides small loans up to $500 to help students with unexpected emergencies unrelated to tuition and fees.
Repayment required within 30 days. Loans only available during an active term.

Physical Wellness

Fitness and Recreation
Provides fitness, recreational and leisure activities including open recreation, fitness classes, intramural leagues, aquatics, gaming, climbing wall, outdoor adventure programs and personal training. Nominal $ for personal training and some outdoor adventure trips.

Personal Growth & Self Help

E-Check Up to Go
Interactive online well-being  assessment tools that provide immediate, personalized and confidential feedback about a student’s well-being. Students receive normative data to help them understand how their substance use patterns compare to other college students and to help them make informed decisions about their use. The wellbeing tool helps students examine major domains of wellness and develop a personalized plan for their well-being.

Campus Well
Online videos, articles and resources specifically for college students covering the various dimensions of wellness. Some content is created by college students.

CredibleMind
Online wellness platform available to Denton County residents featuring videos, articles and webinars.

CAPS Wellness Spaces, Jones Hall, 269
MindBody Lab and Sensory Space are quiet spaces inside CAPS on the Denton campus available to any TWU student to decompress, relax, regulate their emotions and engage in self-care and wellness practices. Students do not need to be a CAPS client to access the spaces.

Peer Support & Engagement

Peer Advocates Teaching Health (PATH)
Certified peer education program for students to plan and implement a range of educational and outreach activities to support the health and wellness of other TWU students.

Health & Wellbeing (HWI) Student Ambassador
Provides opportunity for TWU students to plan and lead health and wellness programs and activities with HWI
Initiative.

Togetherall
Online platform where students can offer and receive emotional support from other college students

HWI Peer Wellness Ambassadors
Provides leadership opportunity for TWU students to provide peer-to-peer support, guidance, and education to promote student wellbeing. They plan and lead health and wellness programs and activities with the HWI initiative.

Other Self-Care Resources

Pioneer Pet Therapy Program
Serves to enhance the emotional wellness and overall wellbeing of TWU students, faculty and staff through group and personal pet therapy activities. Follow us on Instagram @twupettherapy to find out dates and times of upcoming group therapy events, volunteer, or just enjoy photos of our furry friends and their TWU faculty and staff handlers. This fall, you can sign up for personal pet therapy and can bring up to two friends! See website for details.

Podcast and blog featuring conversations on mental health issues that college students may face along their journey.

Wellbeing Society
A program that supports TWU students' overall wellness. Offers leadership opportunities, peer-led activities, wellness workshops, and skill building to foster personal growth and a sense of community at TWU.

Active Minds Student Org
Student-led organization that offers awareness campaigns, events, advocacy and outreach intended to impact the
mental health of young adults.

Outdoor Adventure Trips & Equipment Rentals 
Opportunity to try new activities, be in nature, meet peers, and learn new skills.

Space for quiet studying, rest or relaxation that is available anytime when the Student Union at Hubbard Hall is open.
