Drone Use

All Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) or "drones" must be approved prior to operation on TWU campuses as per TWU URP 04.460. Prior to purchasing a drone or contracting for drone services, complete the Risk Management Drone Application. Remotely Operated Vehicles include any remote controlled aircraft or vehicle, remote controlled or free-flight drones, helicopters, airplanes, mechanically propelled or propellant guided balloons, and rockets, of any size or weight, that do not carry passengers, as well as all of the associated support equipment.

Please note that ROV use on campus must meet the requirements set by the FAA UAV Rule Part 107, including operation by an individual with a Remote Pilot Certificate. In addition, parts of all three TWU campuses are located in Class D airspace requiring FAA approval prior to all outdoor drone operations, which can take up to 90 days to obtain.
