Serendipitous path led to fulfilling career for PT associate director

For over 30 years, Mark Weber, PT, PhD, SCS Emeritus, ATC has worked as an academic, a board-certified sports physical therapist and an athletic trainer. Last February, Weber received the Turner A. Blackburn Hall of Fame/Lifetime Award at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections meeting. 

Student dreams of expanding PT in island community

Kalijah Belardo is from St. Croix, one of the three islands that make up the United States Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea. She is also a first-year student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program on the Texas Woman’s Houston campus. And, although she misses home and her close-knit family every single day, she is determined to become a physical therapist to inspire and help the people of St. Croix. 

PT researchers studying treatments for post-stroke fatigue

Associate Professor Hui-Ting Goh and Professor Emeritus Elaine Jackson, both from the School of Physical Therapy at the Dallas Center, have been awarded a $372,870 three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to fund their project, "Behavioral and Neural Correlates of Post-Stroke Fatigue."

Mixing science, dance helps alum find calling

Alumna Natsuko Oshima, PT, DPT received the competition poster award at the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science conference in Limerick, Ireland for her research on how effects of abrupt tempo changes in music affects the jumping mechanism of ballet dancers.
