TWU hosts hero pilot Tammie Jo Shults in online lecture Oct. 6

Captain Tammie Jo Shults, the widely acclaimed pilot who brought Southwest Flight 1380 in for a successful, heroic emergency landing in 2018, headlines the fall installment of the Paup Lecture Series. The free, online event is open to the public and hosted by the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman’s University.
The virtual lecture will begin at 6 p.m., Oct. 6, 2021. Preregistration is required.
TWU Center for Women Entrepreneurs launches new round of StartHER grants

Texas Woman’s University’s Center for Women Entrepreneurs (CWE) will be accepting submissions for its StartHER Grant Program, which encourages women-owned businesses in Texas to undertake new and innovative projects, starting on Friday, Sept. 24. The winners will be announced on Friday, Nov. 5.
TWU’s CWPPP sponsors free political campaign workshops for women

Building off a campaign season that saw an increase in women running for political office, Texas Woman’s University’s Center for Women in Politics & Public Policy (CWPPP) is offering free online workshops July 17 and 31 to provide practical advice about topics critical to preparing and running an election campaign. TWU hosts Democracy in Action Day for local Girl Scouts

Being a Girls Scout is about more than selling cookies; it’s about leadership too. Thanks to a grant from Communities Foundation of Texas, 125 local Scouts learned about advocacy and the legislative process during a Democracy in Action Day sponsored by TWU’s Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy (CWPPP). At this full-day, virtual event held Saturday, March 20, girls in grades 3-12 participated in activities to earn the Women’s Right to Vote patch and Democracy badge.
