TWU kinesiology student conducts unique, award winning research

As a Texas Woman’s honors student, Ayana Georges (B.S. ‘18) knew she wanted to make a difference in the world of kinesiology. This prompted her to begin her award-winning research, which received top honors at the 2018 Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC) Conference held in March.
TWU alumna implements diabetes prevention program recognized by CDC

Laila Tubaila (BS, 2015) was always devoted to her own personal health until she learned of the rapidly rising rates of diabetes in Texas. This inspired Tubaila to turn her attention to others with a new diabetes prevention program she calls Perfect Lifestyle.
Perfect Lifestyle, which got its start as Tubaila’s internship project while at La Mancion Health and Wellness Clinic in Houston, TX, is now one of the few national diabetes prevention programs registered by the CDC in Houston.
Texas Woman's student named Schweitzer Fellow

Roselyn Cedeno Davila, a Texas Woman’s University master’s student in health studies from Dallas, will spend the next year learning to effectively address the social factors that impact health after being awarded a fellowship with the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program.

Camp helps visually impaired children enjoy thrill of sports

TWU graduate student Gabe Cruz is volunteering at Camp Abilities Texas, which runs from July 7-13. Camp Abilities is a one-week-long educational sports camp that is operated around the world and is designed specifically for children and youth with visual impairments and blindness. The camp teaches children between 9 and 18 what they can do in the areas of sports and recreation.
