This micro-credential is a strategic, low-risk way to deepen your expertise without adding academic credit hours. You can enhance your study with at least 10 in-person hours of learning activites that include STEM lesson design, implementation and reflection connected to authentic K-12 contexts and more.
Structured to help you build confidence working with students on STEM concepts, the K-12 STEM Education Micro-Credential will enhance your career readiness and employability.

Time Requirements
Full Timeline: September 2026 - August 2027
- Two semesters + two summer terms
- Allows students to get credit for hands on experiences during summer terms
Expedited Timeline: September 2026 - May 2027
- One Fall & One Spring semester
- Allows student to earn the micro-credential in a shorter time frame if all work is completed and hands-on hours log is turned in by May 2027
Eligibility Criteria for TWU Students
Requirements for Undergraduate Students
- Letter of support from one course instructor
- Completed EDUC 2003 with grade of C or better (students seeking teacher certification, verified through TWU Self Service)
- Enrolled in a program that leads to teacher certification (if other program, we ask you to provide a justification, verified through TWU Self Service)
- Overall GPA of 2.75 or higher
Requirements for Graduate Students
- Letter of support from faculty advisor or course instructor
- Completed 12 hours of graduate coursework (verified through TWU Self Service)
- Enrolled in a graduate program within the School of Education (if other program, we ask you to provide a justification, verified through TWU Self Service)
