LEGO camp enhances STEM, language skills

Eighteen children from ages 5 to 13 – and with varying hearing capabilities – took part in a unique weeklong summer camp at Texas Woman’s University that uses LEGO building pieces to teach youngsters science-related concepts while at the same time honing their communication skills.

Partnership aims to improve firefighters’ health, wellbeing

The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences partners with the Denton Fire Department in conducting wellness and physical exams for its firefighters. For the last five years, Texas Woman’s faculty and students have offered these exams, which are required annually for firefighters by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
After loss, graduation has special meaning for mom, daughter

Katelynn Sparkman’s life instantly changed when her husband was killed in a car accident. She was now a widowed mother with the challenge of working a full-time job on top of going to school full-time. Despite the loss, Sparkman is walking at the May commencement ceremony with her cohort and will graduate in August.
