Texas Common Course Numbering System

A TWU student studies and reads a textbook on the Denton campus.

The Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) is a tool utilized to facilitate transfer of freshman and sophomore level general academic coursework included in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Lower-Division Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM). The TCCNS provides a shared, uniform set of course designations for students and their advisors to use in determining both course equivalency and degree acceptability of transfer credit on a statewide basis. When students transfer between two participating TCCNS institutions, a course taken at the sending institution transfers as the course carrying the same TCCNS designation at the receiving institution.

The TCCNS Common Course Matrix allows users to view individual institutional TCCNS data or compare the common course numbers between two institutions.

Texas Woman’s University is a participating member in the TCCNS project. TCCNS data is maintained by the office of Curriculum and Strategic Initiatives. For more information please contact csi@twu.edu.
