Project Management Office

What is the Project Management Office?

The Project Management Office (PMO) at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) operates within the Division of IT Solutions, supporting the university’s technology strategy by coordinating IT‑driven projects across all campuses. The PMO includes Technology Project Managers, IT Outreach & Engagement, and the Business Systems Analysis team. Together, these groups form an integrated ecosystem that combines project leadership, stakeholder engagement, and business process expertise to ensure TWU’s technology initiatives are strategically aligned, effectively managed, and successfully adopted.

Project Management Office Teams

Business Systems Analysis (BSA): Provides critical analytical and functional expertise to technology initiatives. They assess business needs, document requirements, analyze processes, and help ensure that solutions align with operational workflows and system capabilities both in their own projects and assisting in Project Manager led projects. This work directly strengthens the PMO’s ability to deliver effective, user‑centered outcomes.

A Business Systems Analyst–led project is one where the analyst drives the discovery, requirements definition, and solution design while serving as the primary link between business stakeholders and technical teams. They guide process analysis, ensure the solution meets operational needs, and support testing and adoption, but they do not take on full project governance or formal project management duties.

BSA Lead Project Examples:

    • Financial Aid Business Process Review: Strategic Assessment & Future Readiness
    • Academic Advising and Stellic Condensed Business Process Review
    • Enrollment Management Business Process Review: Strategic Assessment & Future Readiness

Outreach & Engagement (O&E): The Outreach & Engagement (O&E) team helps the Texas Woman’s University community successfully understand and use university technology. We ensure technology initiatives are clearly communicated, effectively adopted, and well supported across the university.

Serving as a bridge between campus partners and IT, O&E gathers feedback, improves services and processes, and promotes digital literacy for faculty, staff, and students. Our goal is to help create an informed, supported, and digitally confident TWU community.

As part of that bridge between campus partners and IT, O&E offers tailored presentations and consultations for departments and teams. Submit a request to start the conversation and connect with O&E.

Project Managers (PM): guide initiatives from planning to completion, ensuring alignment through overseeing and coordinating IT‑driven projects across all campuses. By contacting the Project Management office before a risk assessment and procurement the PMO can ensure projects follow timelines, have a defined scope, and have a dedicated Project Manager assigned to your project.

A PM‑led project is one where a Project Manager drives the entire lifecycle from planning, coordination, governance, to delivery while managing scope, schedule, budget, risks, and cross‑team alignment. This model is used for initiatives that are complex, cross‑functional, involve multiple systems or vendors, or carry firm deadlines, compliance requirements, or executive visibility, making structured oversight essential.
