Texas Woman's offers several options that help students address mental health and wellness concerns.

TWU Counseling Services

CAPS (TWU's Counseling and Psychological Services) provides short-term therapy and consultation to students who are experiencing emotional and psychological problems that are interfering with their academic performance and personal well-being. Fees for services are already included in students’ previously paid fees. No additional charges are incurred for therapy services.

META is a telehealth resource that offers TWU students access to additional counseling resources beyond TWU CAPS. If there are no appointments at CAPS that work for you or if you prefer to choose your own counselor from a diverse group of licensed Texas mental health care providers with a variety of specialties and interests, you may access up to six (6) free counseling sessions through META.  Use the advanced filters in the app to show providers offering school-sponsored sessions.* META IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO DENTON STUDENTS.

Counseling and Family Therapy Clinic provides therapy services to individuals, individuals in relationships, friends and families, using graduate student therapists from Counseling and Development and Marriage and Family Therapy departments. Fees for services are based on a sliding scale and are typically between $20 and $150 per session.

Academic Live Care (Dallas & Houston Campuses) is a telehealth platform that provides no cost unlimited access to therapy, 24/7 on demand counseling, psychiatric care, 24/7 urgent medical care, nutrition counseling and various other online tools. OASIS Mental Health App gives you instant and unlimited access to mental health and wellbeing support. Start a confidential Support Counseling session with a mental health professional. Explore engaging articles, videos, and courses created by experts. Content is specifically created for TWU students. After you download the app, search for Texas Woman's University and use your TWU credentials to access support today. Available for iPhone in the App Store and Android in Google Play.

Peer Support

Togetherall is a safe online community where TWU students can anonymously connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Whether you want to get advice, tips or just want someone to listen outside of your friendship group, Togetherall is available to you. You too may be able to help others! Lots of students find Togetherall helpful as you can continue exploring your feelings at your own pace, speak to others in similar situations and make use of different resources without time pressure--all in one platform. Local Mental Health Authorities - Located in Denton, Dallas and Harris counties, this list of sources can help you navigate a variety of challenges, including domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse, PTSD and more.

211 Texas - 2-1-1 Texas, a program of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, is committed to helping Texas citizens connect with the services they need. No matter where you live in Texas, you can dial 2-1-1, or (877) 541-7905, and find information about resources in your local community. Whether you need help finding food or housing, child care, crisis counseling or substance abuse treatment, one number is all you need to know.

CredibleMinds - United Way of Denton County has partnered with Denton County and CredibleMind, an online evidence-based self-care platform. The partnership will make personalized well-being resources available to the nearly one million residents of Denton County, Texas at no cost to the user.

Dallas Campus

  • Massage Chair is located in the 3rd-floor Student Life Lounge.
  • Meditation Egg Chair is located in the 3rd-floor Student Life Lounge.
  • Nap Pod is located in an area to the right and back of the Library’s entrance.

CAPS (TWU's Counseling and Psychological Services) Resources for Faculty and Staff page provides helpful tips on their website that help faculty and staff navigate how to refer a student for services, how to identify students in distress, behavioral intervention and more. The CAPS team is your resource for helping students in need.
