Promise Partnerships
TWU has partnered with several community organizations in the North Texas region, to provide students access to a quality education. These organizations provide students in Dallas County, Tarrant County, Grayson County, Cooke County, and Montague County with coaching on college readiness and success.
Students who graduate from a participating high school or community college may be eligible for a last-dollar tuition and fees award to TWU as well as additional resources, like TRiO support, First-Gen support, and Summer Bridge.

Dallas County Promise is a last-dollar award that covers tuition at TWU and offers dedicated student support for Dallas County students.
First-year students from participating high schools in Dallas County and transfer students from Dallas College may be eligible for the Dallas County Promise.
T3 is a local partnership of school districts, colleges, universities, employers, and organizations, anchored by a dedicated backbone staff focused on serving students and families in Tarrant County.
Tarrant County students from participating high schools and transfer students from Tarrant County College may be eligible. Take the T3 Pledge!
Red River Promise aims to provide accessible and affordable pathways to college for high school and community college students in the Red River area. Find opportunities for guaranteed tuition and a success coach to support you as you earn a certificate or degree.
Cooke, Montague and Graham County students from participating high schools and transfer students from North Central Texas College may be eligible.
Texoma Promise is a commitment and partnership to build a stronger college-going culture, expand access to higher education and strengthen the workforce.
First-year students from participating high schools in North Texas and transfer students from Grayson College may be eligible for the Texoma Promise.
Award eligibility
First-Year students who meet all the criteria below may be eligible to receive a last-dollar tuition and fees award for eight (8) consecutive Fall and Spring (long) semesters at TWU.
Transfer students who meet all the criteria below may be eligible to receive a last-dollar tuition and fees award for four (4) consecutive Fall and Spring (long) semesters at TWU.
The last-dollar award is only applied after all other gift aid (grants and scholarships) have been accepted.
- Attend a Participating High School
- Submit the Pledge or Path Form
- Be an official Texas Resident
- Be Pell Grant eligible or have a Pell Grant eligible Student Aid Index (SAI) as determined by the FAFSA or TASFA
- Apply to TWU on/before the deadline of March 1st of their senior year
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) by the priority* deadline of April 15 (*for Fall 2024 applicants)
- Enroll Full-Time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the fall semester following high school graduation
- Must attend a participating community college and maintain Promise Eligibility at that community college
- Be an official Texas Resident
- Be Pell Grant eligible or have a Pell Grant eligible Student Aid Index (SAI) as determined by the FAFSA or TASFA
- Apply to TWU by the priority deadline of March 1st for the fall semester or December 15th for the spring semester
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) each year on/before the >priority deadline of April 15 for Fall or December 15 for Spring
- Enroll Full-Time (minimum 12 credit hours) in the long semester (fall or spring) after completion of associate degree
How to apply
- Submit your Pledge or Path Form to your respective partnership
- Apply to TWU as a first-year student by March 1st of your Senior Year
- Submit a FAFSA or TASFA by March 1st of your Senior Year
- Attend a participating community college and maintain Promise eligibility
- Apply to TWU as a transfer student by the priority deadline of March 1st for Fall or December 15th for Spring
- Submit a FAFSA or TASFA by the priority deadline of March 1st for the Fall or December 15th for the Spring
Award renewal
To remain eligible for a last-dollar tuition and fees award through one of the Promise Partnerships, students must meet the following criteria:
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Maintain Full Time Enrollment (minimum of 12 credit hours) each long semester (Fall or Spring semesters)
- Submit a FAFSA or TASFA annually by January 15th
