How We Work Together

Promise Direct

Dallas County Promise high school graduates are eligible to receive a last-dollar tuition-only scholarship to TWU for up to 8 semesters (fall and spring only for 4 academic years) if all of the following criteria are met and renewal requirements are maintained. 

The scholarship applies after all other aid has been applied.

1. Participating High School

Attend a participating high school for the full 22–23 school year and graduate from a participating high school.

2. Submit Pledge

Submit Dallas County Promise Pledge by Feb. 2 and meet all other requirements* and deadlines for TWU.

3. Financial aid eligibility

Must complete FAFSA or TASFA** by Mar. 1 for fall semester or Dec. 1 for spring semester.***

4. Family Income

Have a family-adjusted income of $50,000 or less.

5. Residency 

Must be a Texas resident for tuition purposes.

6. Enroll

Start classes the fall semester after high school graduation and register for a minimum of 15 credit hours at TWU each long semester (summer sessions are not covered by the Dallas Promise scholarship)

*Students must have a minimum TWU Admissions GPA of 3.0
**Priority deadline for financial aid is Jan. 15
***We highly recommend all students to submit the General Scholarship Application each year to be considered for additional scholarships

Promise Transfer

Scholars who remain Dallas County Promise eligible and complete an associate degree (Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Arts in Teaching) from Dallas College and meet all other eligibility criteria can receive a last-dollar, tuition-only scholarship to TWU for up to 6 semesters (fall and spring only for 3 academic years) if renewal requirements are maintained.

The scholarship applies after all other aid has been applied.

1. Associate Degree

Must have earned an associate of arts, an associate of science, or associate of arts in teaching from Dallas College* by the beginning of the semester student plans on enrolling at TWU.

Be a Texas resident for tuition purposes.

4. Family Income 

Have a family adjusted income of $50,000 or less.

5. Admitted to TWU

Students must be accepted to TWU no later than April 1 for the Fall semester or Nov. 1 for the spring semester.

6. Enroll 

Must start classes the following semester, after graduating with an associate degree from Dallas college, and register for a minimum of 15 credit hours at TWU each long semester (summer sessions are not covered by the Dallas Promise scholarship)

*Cumulative GPA of 3.0
