Dr. Jennifer Phillips-Denny
Coordinator of Tutoring

Welcome to the Write Site! I have been the coordinator of the Write Site at Texas Woman’s University since January of 2011. I also teach composition and literature courses in the English Department. I have a variety of teaching experience gained over the past 21 years, including teaching numerous college English courses at TWU, UNT, Grayson College, and Colorado State University. My other experiences in higher education include managing course redesign projects, instructional design, learning technologies, and assessment. I received in B.A. in Sociology from Texas Tech in 1995, an M.A. in English from UNT in 1998, and a Ph. D. in English in 2001. My areas of scholarly interest are Victorian literature, popular culture, and writing center theory and practice.

In my free time you’ll find me hanging out with my husband and son, David and Devin, spoiling our rescue pets, and playing both video and table top games.

I love managing the Write Site, working with our awesome writing consultants, and TWU students!

Charles Dyer
Senior Secretary

Hello! I’m an Arkansas transplant with a degree in English - Creative Writing and an emphasis in Politics that I earned from Hendrix College in 2019. I'm a political junkie, and I’m passionate about journalism. For the past several years, a lot of my time and energy has gone toward political communications. Here in Texas, I spend most of my time helping out the Write Site and the English, Speech, and Foreign Languages department wherever I can. On the weekends, I freelance for local newspapers, and the rest of my time I spend looking after two gerbils, Ellen and Tater, and a rescued cat named Bids. In the time in between I relax with my partner and try to squeeze in a political drama or two on Netflix.

I truly am a believer that good writing can do anything in the world. I suppose it’s fitting I’ve found myself here in the Write Site.

Carli Varble
Student Assistant

Hi! My name is Carli, and I am the Write Site’s Student Assistant. I am currently working on my B.A. in English with a minor in education because I want to be a teacher. I have been with the Write Site since Spring 2019, and I do a lot of behind the scenes work to help the Write Site run as smoothly as possible. If you have a question, I most likely have an answer to it. I love working at the Write Site and I am excited to continue helping loads of students have a wonderful experience with us!
