Today, the Texas Woman’s University Board of Regents approved a new doctoral degree program that aims to better prepare educators for leadership roles at the highest levels of K-12 instruction, higher education and community-based leadership.

Texas Woman’s University is expanding an innovative nursing program that provides a direct path through the nursing ranks under a partnership with Alvin Community College in Houston, decreasing costs and shortening the time to a bachelor’s degree.

While many Texans have not seen the effects of COVID-19 up close, Courtney Waddle (BS ’12) and Maybelle Anderson (BS ’12) signed up for it. The registered nurses joined three other colleagues to travel to the epicenter of COVID-19 in the United States: New York City, where infections number more than 10 times that of the entire state of Texas.
Nursing students find reward in COVID-19 response

The phone call Douglas Schwartz took from the frantic woman earlier this spring was unsettling to say the least. The woman had lost a portion of a lung to a previous disease, was startled by symptoms she was experiencing as the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading, and she was caring for six children.
TWU plans to resume in-person classes in fall

Texas Woman’s University plans to resume classroom instruction at its three campuses beginning this fall and, starting next month, will launch a gradual phase-in to re-open the university.
