TWU Houston Center to host online open house Sept. 26, 2020

Texas Woman’s University will host an online open house for prospective transfer and graduate students from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 26, to showcase the university’s Institute of Health Sciences-Houston Center, located in the Texas Medical Center at 6700 Fannin Street.

TWU researchers explore equine therapy as treatment for Parkinson’s disease

Texas Woman’s researchers will launch a first-of-its-kind study this year when they investigate how equine-assisted therapy could benefit adults with Parkinson’s disease, thanks to a research grant awarded by the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI).

TWU launches new pioneering women book series

Texas Woman’s University has launched an interdisciplinary book series highlighting the accomplishments of courageous women. The TWU Book Series—Pioneering Women: Women Who Blazed Trails and Women Who Lead—has been developed in coordination with Texas A&M Press, which will assist in peer reviews and printing. The university aims to publish two books a year in the series.

Pioneers@Work are testing for COVID-19

TWU alumni at the American Institute of Toxicology (AIT) Laboratories, a division of HealthTrackRx, are at the forefront of the battle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). AIT employees, including 23 graduates of TWU STEM programs, have been working around the clock to conduct, aid and enhance COVID-19 detection within 24-48 hours of sample receipt.

It is difficult to imagine a task more daunting than being the chief nursing officer at Houston’s Ben Taub Hospital. The 444-bed teaching hospital provides indigent care, includes an elite Level 1 trauma center and lies in the heart of Houston’s Texas Medical Center, the largest in the world.
