Employee Benefits

The Texas Woman’s University benefits package is a valuable part of your benefits-eligible employment.  As a benefits-eligible state employee, you have access to:

  • Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) – Health insurance at no cost to the full-time benefits eligible employee, health insurance for eligible dependents at reduced rates, prescription drug coverage, life and AD&D Insurance, dental coverage, tax-advantaged spending/savings accounts, short-term disability, long-term disability, and vision coverage.
  • Available voluntary benefits such as supplemental medical insurance, identity theft insurance, legal insurance, pet insurance, and air ambulance insurance.

Retirement Programs

  • Teacher Retirement System of Texas – retirement eligible employees participate in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas pension plan.
  • Optional Retirement Program – an option for full-time faculty and certain administrative employees in lieu of the Teacher Retirement System.

Tuition Assistance Program

Texas Woman’s University has Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for certain tuition and fees to be waived when regular full-time faculty and staff and their eligible dependents are enrolled in classes at TWU.

Employee Assistance Program

Every Texas Woman’s University employee and their family have access to licensed clinicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at no cost to the employee.  This is a resource for an array of personal and work-related concerns including skill development for personal growth.  Assessment visits, crisis intervention counseling, and short-term counseling are provided free of charge. 

The program is designed to confidentially help you deal with life’s stresses and a variety of challenges including (but not limited to): career management, job performance, marital difficulties, family issues, managing depression and anxiety, child and elder care resources, anger management, grief and bereavement, legal and financial issues, smoking cessation, weight loss, and stress management.

Athletic Events

With your employee ID, you and 3 guests can enjoy any of Texas Woman’s University’s outstanding athletic events. Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Softball and our National Champion Gymnastics team have plenty to offer any sports enthusiast.

Cultural Experiences

Enjoy all of the amazing talent and cultural experiences brought to you by the TWU Theatre performances, TWU Dance performances, TWU Music concerts and recitals, and TWU Visual Art galleries.

Fitness and Recreation

The Denton Campus is home to TWU’s fitness and recreation facility that includes a 30-foot climbing wall, basketball court, women’s and men’s locker room with showers, weight and cardio areas, three group exercise studios, and an outdoor adventure center. Also offered are an indoor pool, outdoor intramural field and tennis courts.  Faculty and staff may opt for membership which can be payroll deducted (at the beginning of each fiscal year) or pay by the semester.

TWU Libraries

TWU staff and faculty enjoy borrowing and check-out privileges, beautiful inviting spaces, and a wealth of online and physical resources.

On Campus Dining

Dining facilities are located on campus where meals are served during the work day. Dining Hall meals include a wide selection that cater to choice and preference.  On-campus retail options include Bunsen Tea Lab, Chick-fil-A, Qdoba Mexican Eats, ACE Sushi, Farmer’s Fridge, Starbucks, Mondo Subs, and others.  Faculty and staff who wish to take advantage of on campus dining have an option to purchase a meal plan which can be payroll-deducted if desired.

Bring Your Dog to Work Days

TWU has designated special “Bring your Dog to Work” days on which a pet owner wishing to bring a pet to the office may do so with the approval of their supervisor.

The Clubhouse

Take advantage of TWU’s on-campus educational enrichment program for children ages 5-12 with “first child” and “each additional child” fee structures.  This program follows the Denton ISD school schedule and The Clubhouse vehicles pick up children from the Denton elementary schools. 

Bezos Academy Denton

Opening in 2025, TWU will host the Bezos Academy Denton.  Twenty percent of seats at this tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool for children aged 3-5 will be reserved for children within the TWU community.
