Canvas
Canvas is the primary learning management system used at Texas Woman’s University to support online and technology-enhanced courses. It is the central place where you will access course materials, complete assignments, communicate with your instructor, and track your progress.
What Is Canvas?
Canvas is a secure, web-based platform that allows instructors and students to interact in a digital learning environment.
In Canvas, you can:
- Access your course syllabus and materials
- View announcements and course updates
- Submit assignments and complete quizzes
- Participate in discussions with classmates
- Check grades and instructor feedback
- Communicate with your instructor
Even if your course meets in person, your instructor may still use Canvas to organize course content and communication.
How to Access Canvas
To access your courses in Canvas:
- Go to the TWU website
- Select Students
- Click My Courses
- Log in using your TWU username and password
- Authenticate into Canvas using Microsoft 365 Multi-Factor Authentication
Once logged in, your Canvas Dashboard will display your current courses.

When Will My Course Appear?
Courses will appear in Canvas only after your instructor publishes the course.
Many instructors publish their courses on or shortly before the first day of class. If your course is not visible:
- Confirm you are enrolled in the course through Student Self-Service
- Contact your instructor if the term has started and the course is still unavailable
Navigating Canvas
After logging in, you will typically see:
- Dashboard – Displays your current courses
- Courses – Lists all courses you are enrolled in
- Calendar – Shows assignment due dates and events
- Inbox – Allows you to send and receive messages
Within each course, instructors often organize content using modules, which guide you through course materials and activities step-by-step.

To stay on track in your courses:
- Check Canvas regularly for updates
