Syllabus Resources

DSS recommends that professors create their syllabus in a Microsoft Word document to ensure screen reader accessibility.

We also ask that instructors consider the placement of their syllabus statement. Having the DSS statement towards the beginning of the syllabus can highlight to students with disabilities that their accommodations are a priority (Madden & Wood, 2014).

Suggested accommodation statement for your syllabus:

Texas Woman's University strives to make all learning experiences as accessible as possible. If you anticipate or experience academic barriers based on your disability (including mental health, chronic, or temporary medical conditions), please contact me via email/phone or during office hours, so that we may privately discuss options. To establish reasonable accommodations, please register with Disability Services for Students (DSS). After registration, contact me as soon as possible to discuss your accommodations so that they may be implemented in a timely fashion.
