National group recognizes OT faculty member, student organization

A national organization representing occupational therapists has recognized faculty, students and alumnae from Texas Woman’s School of Occupational Therapy. The honors were announced during the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) INSPIRE 2025 Annual Conference & Expo awards and recognition ceremony in April.
Dietitian finds calling in classroom

Rachel Poland was recently recognized for her contributions to the dietetics profession. The dietetic internship director for the Houston campus received the Emerging Dietetic Leader award at the Texas Academy Annual Conference & Exhibition (Texas ACE) in April.

Vanessa Yanez, a prior PhD candidate who successfully defended her dissertation in the School of Occupational Therapy on the Houston campus, is a recipient of the Bonita Kraft Occupational Therapy Doctoral Student Scholarship, which supports research in mental health and severe mental illness.
Kinesiology team earns second place in NASA-sponsored design challenge

A team of Texas Woman’s kinesiology students researched, designed, fabricated and tested an wearable exercise device that could potentially transform astronauts’ workouts in space flight and took second place overall at a NASA-sponsored statewide design competition.
TWU kinesiology prof helps golfers master their swing

Over the last 16 years, Young-Hoo Kwon, a professor of kinesiology and director of the Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Lab in the School of Health Promotion & Kinesiology at Texas Woman’s, has become one of the world’s leading researchers in golf biomechanics. Through years of capturing data of golf swings with innovative 3D technology and then analyzing it with software that he created when he was a PhD student, Kwon has produced research that filled a gap in the science of golf.
