TWU alumna overcomes hardships on journey to Austin

Dawna-Diamond Tyson's life has been a bit of a rollercoaster. But with a master's degree in political science from TWU in hand, Tyson is at the 88th regular session of the Texas Legislature as a policy analyst for José Menéndez, state senator from San Antonio.

A scientist who means business

While much of humanity spent the COVID lockdown binging in front of a television, Juliet Spencer was improving herself. In addition to virtually conducting her copious duties as director of TWU's School of the Sciences and as a biology professor, Spencer was earning an MBA from TWU.

Laura Ruemmele, a senior biochemistry major at Texas Woman's University, was selected to be a research assistant at the Air Force Research Laboratory.

TWU's Genevieve West, PhD, will be featured on PBS's Books Author Talk to discuss You Don't Know Us Negroes,  the book of essays by Zora Neale Hurston which West edited along with Monica Miller and Henry Louis Gates Jr.
