We know you’re choosing a master’s degree to get you places, and we designed two assignment pathways to help you prepare for your career. Whether you plan to use your new knowledge to teach, research, practice or work in government, we have a pathway for you.

Path 1: Dual Credit and College Faculty

Texas is investing in dual credit and there’s a growing need for dual credit and college faculty. With a graduate degree and 18-credit hours in your subject, you can expand your teaching options and earning potential. Our teaching path allows you to leave each seminar with original course materials to implement in your classroom. On this track, you’ll create pedagogically sound, ADA-compliant classroom materials to demonstrate your understanding of seminar materials. These assignments might include:

Lecture videos
Interactive readings
Information graphics
Learning assessments
Open education resources
Reading guides

Both our department and the TWU Faculty Commons offer workshops and shadow opportunities for graduate students who wish to further their pedagogical skills.

Today, I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science thanks to the mentorship, encouragement, and unwavering support of the professors at TWU. Path 2: Graduate Studies, Law Students, Advocacy, and Analysts

A master’s degree can be a foundation for a doctoral or law degree, or a career in advocacy or policy analysis. Each of these options require strong written and analytical skills, and an understanding of the legislative process, policy, and government structure. On this track, assignments will allow you to practice these skills. These assignments might include:

Our faculty, the TWU Center for Student Research, and our QEP division offer opportunities for graduate students who wish to further their research, analysis, and communication skills.
