Elevate your career
The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science in Professional Studies (BAASPS) is specifically designed for community college transfer students and is gaining popularity, particularly among adult learners seeking to complete their degree and advance their careers. This degree provides a clear and streamlined path for students seeking to build on their prior education and advance with purpose. The BAASPS program is designed for community college transfer students who have completed at least 15 semester credit hours (SCH) of workforce education (WECM) and 12 SCH of academic coursework before transferring.
BAASPS @ TWU
Our BAAS in Professional Studies stands out among multidisciplinary degrees in Texas for its flexibility, transfer-friendliness and career focus.
- Adult learner friendly: Flexible online options make it easy to balance school, work and life commitments.
- Designed for transfer students, particularly those with applied workforce credits from programs like an AAS degree. This program accepts WECM (Workforce Education Course Manual) credits, certifications and military experience that typically do not transfer to traditional bachelor’s degrees as part of TWU’s Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) initiatives.
- Customizable curriculum: You can tailor your degree with courses from multiple disciplines to match your career goals.
- Career-focused: Emphasizes real-world skills and professional development, preparing you for leadership roles in business, healthcare, education and more.
- Community focus: Encourages service learning and real-world projects that connect you with local organizations and employers.
- Networking: Access to TWU’s professional connections and internship opportunities to build valuable career relationships.
Degree requirements
The BAAS in Professional Studies is available for students who transfer into TWU from a community college with a minimum of 15 semester credit hours (SCH) of WECM (workforce education) and a minimum of 12 SCH of academic courses. Coursework must be completed prior to transfer. To complete the BAASPS degree at TWU, students will complete any additional core curriculum courses required for a four-year degree, *15 SCH in a professional development concentration area, 3 hours for the multidisciplinary studies capstone, 15-18 SCH in an interdisciplinary minor or certificate program, and any electives needed to complete the 120 SCH needed for graduation; 36 upper-level SCH will be required.
Any student admitted to TWU for completion of the BAAS in Professional Studies who decides to change majors outside of applied degree areas will be required to submit a new application for admission. In such cases, technical SCH transferred to TWU may be removed from the TWU transcript.
Once accepted at TWU, Student Records will review your transcript and notify you of which courses can be transferred. After declaring BAASPS as your degree, you can work with Vicki Jennings, our academic advisor, to create a degree plan.
