Innovative Programs

Literacy and Learning participates in a number of innovative programs throughout our department and the College of Professional Education.

  • COPE Emerging Leaders — aimed to develop and strengthen participants’ leadership skills through a series of co-curricular activities (e.g. workshops, seminars, online discussions) that encourage interaction, networking, and teamwork. It also promotes the development of critical thinking and confidence, and the continuation of graduate studies.
  • Digital Days — helps young children and their parents to engage in brain-based learning strategies and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) activities at home on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Rose Spicola Forum — co-founded by Dr. Rose F. Spicola and Aileen Griffin in 1966 to bring outstanding scholars in Reading to Texas Woman’s University for the benefit of students and teachers in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex.
