Frontiers Program: Foster Care Alumni

About the program

The Frontiers Program is designed to help improve college graduation rates of students who have experienced foster care. Nationally, between 1-9% of students who have been in foster care will graduate from higher education. TWU is working to drastically improve that statistic. Currently, the Frontiers Program has a higher graduation rate than the national average. All students need support and guidance while attending college. The Frontiers Program provides that support and assistance to guide foster alumni along the path to their degree.

The Frontiers Program is for students who are attending or who would like to attend Texas Woman’s University.

Foster Care Alumni Success Center

The Foster Care Alumni Success (FCAS) Center was authorized by the Texas Legislature in June 2025 and will fund measures to help foster care youth, including enrollment assistance at the college of their choice and a hotline to provide guidance and referrals to start the college-navigating process. Additionally, the center will provide training to high school counselors to improve their ability to identify and support high school foster youth.

Legislators approved $1.6 million to launch the FCAS Center. More details about the center's launch and activities will be available soon. Please reach out to care@twu.edu with any questions.
