Performance Review
TWU Procedures and Guidelines for Faculty Periodic Performance Review (PPR)
The purpose of the Faculty Periodic Performance Review (PPR) is to document a faculty member's growth and achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service within their discipline, academic unit, university, and community. Each PPR submission includes a self-reflection and other materials that detail the quantity, quality, and significance of the faculty member’s accomplishments, as measured against the university and unit's criteria for promotion and tenure. Access TWU's Guidelines for Faculty Performance Reviews [PDF].
Faculty members creating a PPR will use the TWU Faculty Performance Review System (FPR) to submit their review materials to the peer review committee for their academic component by the deadline posted on the Faculty Periodic Performance Review Calendar below.

Choose Your Tenure Track
- Non-Tenure: The non-tenure track consists of primarily two major faculty groups; those who teach part-time and full-time but are not on tenure-track. This includes faculty hired as lecturers, instructors, or clinicians.
- Pre-Tenure: Pre-tenure is the period of time (usually employment years 1-5) when a college or university determines whether to grant tenure to a tenure-track professor. The pre-tenure period involves evaluation, professional development, and mentorship.
- Promotion and Tenure: Tenure is the status granted to a college faculty member after an initial probationary period in their career, determined by their achievements in research, teaching, and service.
- Post-Tenure: A post-tenure review is a periodic evaluation of tenured faculty performance. It is a peer evaluation process that can assess a faculty member’s accomplishments and future directions in areas such as teaching, scholarship, and service.
