Sorority and Fraternity Life at Texas Woman's University plays an important role on campus and throughout the Denton community. Scholarship, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood are the common principles founded by each of our Greek letter organizations. By focusing on these principles, one can expect both a positive collegiate and Greek experience.
Being part of a Sorority or Fraternity will provide ample opportunities for you to participate in activities that will enhance your personal development, promote academics, serve the local community, and advance your leadership skills. We encourage you to take a look at Sorority & Fraternity Life at TWU and be part of our community.
Joining a sorority or fraternity is a mutual selection process between students and sorority/fraternity organizations. It is a lifetime commitment to the values of leadership, scholarship, friendship, and service. This means that as you are exploring which organization is the best fit for you, organizations are examining what students are a good fit for their chapter. As you explore our community, keep an open mind and consider more than one option to ensure you find the best option. At Texas Woman's University we have 3 Councils that organize our sororities and fraternities on campus.
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing council for all cultural and multicultural fraternities and sororities recognized by the Greek system at TWU. Texas Woman's University currently recognizes three multicultural sororities and one multicultural fraternity.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded in 1930 to provide a venue of cooperation and communication concerning issues of mutual interest for Historically Black Greek-Letter fraternities and sororities. The TWU NPHC serves as the official coordinating agent of the campus NPHC organizations in the furtherance of their national programs and to promote unity on the campus. Texas Woman’s University currently recognizes three sororities and one fraternity.
Panhellenic Council (PC)
The National Panhellenic Council (PC) was established in 1902 to advance the sorority experience among 26 fraternities and sororities. The TWU PC serves the community by coordinating professional development programs, philanthropies, and community service efforts. Texas Woman’s University currently recognizes three women’s sororities.
