Scholarships and Co-curricular Activities Leading to Excellence

The NSF SCALE Project awards scholarships to students in the Professional Science Master’s (PSM) in Biotechnology program up to $5,000 per semester for up to four semesters.

The goal is to increase STEM degree completion of low-income, high-achieving PSM students with demonstrated financial need. TWU SCALE seeks to increase retention, graduation and engagement in the biotechnology industry through S-STEM scholarships and co-curricular supports.

Co-curricular Student Supports

  • Mentoring
  • Leadership training
  • STEM identity development­­­
  • Cohort development
  • Career investigation and guidance
  • Conference stipend up to $1000 per year

SCALE Requirements

  • Minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Be accepted to PSM in Biotechnology program
  • Enroll in minimum of five credit hours
  • Demonstrate financial need by completing current-year FAFSA
  • Demonstrate low-income (email ARobles10@twu.edu for information)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

SCALE Application

  • Complete online scholarship application in TWU Pioneer Scholarship System
  • Upload resume and personal statement to application
  • Include two references for letters of recommendation

Fall deadline to apply is August 15. Spring deadline is January 15.
