Criminal Trespass Information

Appeal Process

The TWU Police Department provides an opportunity to appeal Criminal Trespass Warnings. A person who wants to appeal a Criminal Trespass Warning must file an appeal within thirty (30) calendar days of receiving the written Criminal Trespass Warning notice. Under extraordinary circumstances, appeals received after thirty (30) calendar days may be considered at the discretion of the Chief of Police.

The appeal process affords an impartial review of the facts and circumstances giving rise to the Criminal Trespass Warning. A board will discuss each appeal and make a decision on if the appeal is lifted. The board members include a representative from the TWU Police Department, TWU Human Resources, and the TWU Office of Student Life. After reviewing all information, a decision will be made. The decision is final. Generally, the appeal board will issue a decision within 10 business days of receiving an appeal, baring exigent circumstances which will extend the time to provide a decision.

All appeals must be made by utilizing the Criminal Trespass Warning Appeal Form.

Complete the form, attach any supporting documents, and email it to: twupolice@twu.edu.

You may also choose to mail the completed form to the following address:

As a reminder, if you are trespassed you are still not permitted on campus while a decision is being made on an appeal.
