Student Events and Programs

The International Student and Scholar Services office provides opportunities for international students, studying on an F1 Visa, to interact with each other and other international and domestic students on campus.

Peer mentor program

Incoming initial or transfer students can be matched with a TWU mentor. A TWU mentor is either an international or domestic student, has a specific interest in peer mentoring, and has attended TWU for at least two long semesters. The mentor will support the mentee in their transition to TWU, and the mentee has the opportunity to share their experiences and build resources through engagement with their mentor.

At the end of each spring semester, TWU students receive an announcement to serve as mentors. Incoming international students are invited to participate as a match. Throughout the fall semester the goal is for the pairs to engage in campus activities, meet for one-on-one conversations, and share in dialogue about their interests and goals — both personal and academic.

Semester workshop series

During the fall and spring semesters, workshops will be offered to all international students, to discuss various topics. These topics range from academic culture, to navigating US culture, to mental health, financial wellbeing, and more. Each monthly workshop time and location is posted on the ISSS calendar below. Although the PDSO and DSO will be hosting these workshops, international students are encouraged to reach out to the ISSS office with additional workshop ideas by emailing intloffice@twu.edu.
