TWU Houston hosts celebration of cultures

The International Student Festival is a highlight for all of TWU-Houston each year. It’s a celebration of cultures in which students, faculty and/or staff who are originally from or have spent time in another country share bits of that country’s culture with others.

Parry Lecture's focus on Florence Nightingale

Barbara Dossey, PhD, RN, FAAN, International Co-director of the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health will present “Nursing and Sustainable Development Goals: From Nightingale to Now”. The discussion will focus on the integrative, holistic and integral paradigm Florence Nightingale introduced and its application to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for healthy people living in a healthy world.

Folk dancing classes held Saturdays

Laura Hanson (biology), a folk dancer and folk dance teacher for more than 40 years, leads an international folk dancing group for faculty, staff, students and families on Saturdays, 4-5:30 p.m., in Studio 2 of the TWU Fitness and Recreation Center.

Global Perspectives (11-20-19 update)

Work on the Global Perspectives Strategic Initiative officially started this semester. Annie Phillips, executive director for international affairs, and Cindy Pollard, associate vice president of marketing and communication, are serving as co-champions for this initiative.

Experiential learning thrives online

Students in online project management and strategic information studies classes led by Management Information Systems Professor Mahesh Raisinghani, PhD, took part in X-Culture, a virtual exercise meant to create international collaboration in the classroom.
