Newly redesigned Texas Women in Politics exhibit now open at TWU

September 2025 – DENTON – Texas Woman’s University (TWU) has unveiled a newly redesigned Texas Women in Politics exhibit at the Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall, the flagship installation of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership (JNIWL).

Originally focused on the 2018 midterm election, the expanded exhibit now highlights women who have shaped Texas politics across generations and at all levels of government. Through dynamic, interactive displays, visitors can explore how Texas women have influenced policies, led campaigns, and held elected office throughout the state’s history.

“I’m excited to share the stories of these women,” said Qualia, curator of the gallery. “What I enjoy about this exhibit is how we’ve widened the lens to highlight the history of women in Texas politics. I think visitors will get a sense of just how long women have influenced our state and its policies.”

Exhibit features include a Texas counties map showcasing more than 200 women who have contributed to the political history of the state, as well as an interactive display tracking recent election trends in Texas.

The Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall is located on the second floor of TWU’s Old Main Building and is among the first permanent exhibits of its kind in Texas and the U.S. The gallery showcases the achievements of women who have played pivotal roles in advancing women’s leadership in public life.

The gallery is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment. To schedule a group or guided tour, email leadership@twu.edu.

The Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall is part of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership at Texas Woman's University. The JNIWL empowers women with the expertise to lead in business, the skills to launch successful ventures, and the framework to excel in public service.
