Student Leaders

TWU Honors students get involved and develop their leadership skills in several ways.

Athenian Honor Society

The official student organization for the Honors Scholar Program. AHS has a board of elected student leaders who represent the honors students, organize activities and events, and help govern the program. There are several committees within AHS that students also serve on throughout the year.

Touchstone Student Organization

The official student organization for the Touchstone Honors Program. TSO has a council of elected student leaders who represent the honors students, organize activities and events, and help govern the program.

All incoming first years students in the Honors Scholar Program are assigned a peer mentor for their first year in the program. The peer mentor’s main purpose is to act as a resource and role model for their group of mentees.

They also plan social and academic activities for their group that are designed to help them adjust to college life, involvement at TWU, and to prepare them for their responsibilities with the Honors Scholar Program.

First-Year Retreat

One of our biggest annual events is the First-Year Honors Retreat for incoming first-year students in the Honors Scholar Program. This fun and engaging overnight retreat is designed and facilitated by students, for students.

A team of six students on the Retreat Planning Committee plans this event for the majority of the year, culminating in the popular and welcoming retreat in August.
