Welcome to the current volume of Ibid.: A Student History Journal, published by the Eta Nu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society at TWU. Celebrating Nineteen years of publishing the best in graduate and undergraduate scholarship, Ibid.’s current volume continues the journal’s strong tradition of faculty and student collaboration.

In 2025, the national office of Phi Alpha Theta awarded this journal a prestigious Gerald Nash Journal Prize, marking the tenth time Ibid. has received this honor. This national award recognized TWU students for their superlative efforts in creating a professional journal.

Thanks to a generous private endowment, Ibid. was able to award two prizes for the “Best Papers” appearing in this volume. Named after TWU Professor Emeritus Valentine J. Belfiglio, these prizes, awarded to Meghan Pearce and Cassandra Rosas, reward excellent scholarship and writing. This year, Ibid. also granted a historiography award which recognizes Abbey Parker for her discerning observations about the state of scholarship on the Women Air Service Pilots.

In addition to featuring prize-winning essays, the current volume includes featured forum departments examining Gender, Representation and Political Discourse; Southern and Regional Histories; and Imperial Frameworks and Labor Reform.  Celebrating more than eighteen years of publishing the best in student research and writing, the editors of Ibid.: A Student History Journal proudly invite you to enjoy our 19th volume.
