OEP Ambassadors

Purpose of the OEP Ambassadors

The purpose of the OEP Ambassadors program is to help instructors introduce and enhance Open Educational Practices (OEP) and Open Pedagogy at TWU. The program provides faculty with the framework, resources, and community support necessary to implement open education strategies in their classrooms. By transitioning to open practices, Ambassadors will help reduce barriers to student success, foster collaborative learning, and create more affordable, equitable, and engaging educational experiences.

Selected Ambassadors will have the opportunity to:

Explore Open Educational Practices (OEP) and Open Pedagogy frameworks.
Collaborate with TWU partners and peers dedicated to advancing open education.
Design and implement an innovative OEP application project within a Fall course.
Contribute leadership by serving on the OEP@TWU Conference Committee.
Provide peer support and advance open education awareness across the university.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

All TWU instructors are eligible to apply. Applicants will be selected based on their commitment to enhancing course accessibility and affordability through open education.

Selection Criteria:

Strong interest in introducing or expanding Open Educational Practices (OEP) in their courses.
Commitment to sharing OER/OEP strategies with colleagues to enhance campus-wide awareness.
Clear vision of how the OEP Ambassadors program will support improvements to course access, equity, and student engagement.
Plan to teach at least one course during the Fall semester to implement the application project.

Time Commitment and Program Requirements

Participation in this program requires a significant commitment across the full calendar year (January – December). To successfully complete the program and remain eligible for the stipend, chosen Ambassadors agree to fulfill the following requirements:

Spring Semester

Attend Three Required Meetings: Includes the mandatory Kickoff Meeting on January 20.
Complete the OEP Ambassadors Online Course: To be completed asynchronously between February 2 and May 1.
Serve on the OEP@TWU Conference Committee: Active participation in planning and executing the Spring virtual conference.

Fall Semester

Complete an Application Project: Successfully implement an OEP or Open Pedagogy project within your course during the Fall semester.

Stipend Note: Only upon successful completion of all program requirements within the designated January–December timeframe will participants be eligible to receive the one-time $500.00 stipend.
