Supporting Teaching

Teaching squares are groups of four faculty members who visit each other’s classes -- to learn from each other, not to evaluate each other -- and then get together to discuss what they learned from the visits. (Groups of three may also form a teaching triangle.)

To support these goals, we can help by 

• providing prompts to guide the class visits and/or the debrief (in addition to my Teaching Squares Guide), and
• supporting your debrief conversation by covering the cost for a meal together on campus.

After the debrief, each participant will be asked to submit a very brief report (download here) on insights gained from the experience.  

Universal Design Champions help instructors learn about Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, develop relationships with instructional designers, and become acquainted with universal design for learning (UDL) strategies to design course materials that meet the needs of all students.

The OEP Ambassadors Program fosters a collaborative culture of innovative teaching by supporting faculty in the exploration, research, and application of Open Educational Practices and other non-traditional instructional approaches. Through participation in a structured community of practice, faculty develop, study, and share innovative teaching strategies, ultimately serving as ambassadors who advance pedagogical innovation across departments and professional venues.

Join a faculty book group to read and discuss timely topics related to teaching, scholarship, and higher education.  

We host “slow read” faculty book groups to consider timely topics related to teaching, scholarship, and higher education.  These "slow reads" are intended to fit into your busy schedules:  we'll take our time, and maybe even (depending on the book) divide the book's sections among participants, who'll then summarize their sections for others. 

Books (and light refreshments for in-person attendance) will be provided.

In partnership with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), TWU provides the opportunity for new and seasoned faculty to participate in an 8 month facilitated online program of study, focusing on four major areas of their teaching practice.

Quality Matters (QM) is a nationally recognized, faculty-driven peer-review process used to ensure the quality of online and blended course design. The Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric is a set of standards dedicated to the continuous improvement of online learning and course design, and can be used in a variety of ways to help instructors develop, redesign, and assess their online and hybrid courses.
