Consultations

TWU Instructional Designers are collaborative partners, experienced educators, and knowledgeable resources who support faculty in designing engaging and effective learning experiences. They provide guidance and feedback on course design, content development, assignments, and assessments; support continuous course improvement; share current and emerging practices in teaching and learning; and help faculty explore innovative approaches to instruction and student engagement.

You may request confidential, formative feedback on your in-person or virtual class sessions. Nancy Chick conducts in-person class visits, and Lynda Murphy arranges virtual class visits. Before the visit, we'll ask about your goals. After the visit, we'll meet to debrief, share insights, and brainstorm potential strategies.

This is a supportive, non-evaluative service designed to support your teaching goals. We follow the Ethical Guidelines for Educational Developers from the national POD Network in Higher Education, so this process is confidential, requested by you, and designed to support your teaching—not evaluate it. We won't share the results with anyone but you.

We can help you collect anonymous formative feedback from your students while your course is still in progress—with an extra layer of anonymity and confidentiality for the students and support for you. At your request, we'll gather information from your students to help you understand how they're experiencing your course and/or to explore a particular issue you're curious about (e.g., "I'm struggling to get them to participate," "I want to decrease their test anxiety"). The process is entirely confidential, requested by you, and designed to support your teaching—not evaluate it.

F2F Version

In the final 20 or 30 minutes of your class, you'll leave the room, and we'll facilitate a discussion with your students about what's helping them learn and what would help them learn more effectively. We'll then synthesize their responses and meet with you to share key insights and help you plan what to do based on their feedback.

Virtual Version

We'll send an anonymous survey to your students, synthesize those results, and then meet with you to share key insights and help you plan what to do based on their feedback.
