CSL members with TWU alumna Haley Taylor Schlitz

The Center for Student Leadership is grateful that we have been able to bring several alumni to campus to talk about their career journeys. Previous alumni speakers have included:

  • Crystal V. Brown earned her MBA from TWU’s College of Business. Crystal currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center and spoke to students on the topic, Lessons from My Journey to the C-Suite.
  • Lilyan Prado is an educator, professional speaker, activist, and former LULAC president, who earned her degree from TWU’s College of Professional Education. Lilyan spoke on the topic, My House, My campus, My Cause! A workshop on activism! 101.
  • Haley Taylor Schlitz graduated from TWU’s College of Professional Education. In September 2022, Haley, who is Texas Woman’s University’s youngest graduate and the youngest Black person to graduate from law school, talked about being a barrier breaker.

Women on the Move: Climbing Ladders and Breaking Glass

In March 2023, the Center for Student Leadership hosted a half-day workshop for its first-year leadership scholars. The workshop featured Patti Grimm, author of the book, Quiet Women Never Changed History: Be Strong, Stand Up, and Stand Out: Let’s Go Kick Some Glass! . In 2024, the CSL plans to build upon this workshop and host a full-day conference, in which it will offer multiple sessions featuring women leaders from a variety of industries, representing different stages of the career pipeline, who can talk about how they have overcome the “broken rung” on their career path. The conference will feature keynotes, panels, skill-development workshops, and networking opportunities for students.
