Academic Assessment and Accreditation

The Office of Academic Assessment and Accreditation supports continuous improvement and quality enhancement efforts at Texas Woman's University through its facilitation of the assessment of student learning and program quality and its coordination of accreditation reporting for TWU's institutional accreditation agency.

  • Acts as a liaison between the university and its institutional accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • Coordinates preparation and submission of reports required to sustain university accreditation, including SACSCOC Fifth-Year Interim Reports and Compliance Certifications
  • Consults with university offices on substantive changes and reports these changes for notification or approval as required by SACSCOC
  • Develops and oversees a coordinated and systematic process for measurement of student learning outcomes across all academic degree and certificate programs consistent with the Principles of Accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • Oversees assessment of the TWU Core and assists in the facilitation of undergraduate periodic program review 
  • Creates reporting templates, assessment plans, preparation guidelines, resources, and training materials for documentation of Academic Institutional Improvement and Core Assessment
  • Communicates expectations of student learning outcomes assessment with departments and schools
  • Utilizes best-practices in academic assessment to ensure robust assessment methods and accurate reporting
  • Conducts workshops, departmental, and one-on-one meetings to educate and offer guidance to academic units in student learning outcomes assessment and best practices in academic assessment
  • Generates SACSCOC and institutional reports specific to student learning outcomes assessment of academic degree and certificate programs, and Core Assessment
  • Provides leadership through the use of student learning outcomes assessment for academic decisions related to academic program quality and student performance
  • Provides leadership in the context of institutional accreditation in use of student learning outcomes assessment to evaluate student learning and program quality
