About Sustainability
Sustainability Defined
According to the Glossary of Sustainable Manufacturing Terms, sustainability is defined as “the conditions that ensure [the] human impact on the environment is sufficiently mitigated in pursuit of the protection of natural resources.” In other words, sustainability requires conditions in which humans and nature coexist in productive harmony to support present and future generations. (Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)).
Sustainability development is a priority set forth by the United Nations through their adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 goals. These development goals address “the global challenges we face including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.” (UN Sustainability Development Goals)
