TWU seeks student regent applicants for 2021-2022

Oct. 28, 2020 — DENTON — On behalf of the university, TWU’s Student Government Association is seeking new applicants to serve as the next student regent for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Since 2006, student regents have played an integral role in university governing boards across the state. While student regents are nonvoting, the perspective they bring to the board of regents helps ensure that the student perspective is heard and considered in their decisions.

Lexi D’Abrosca, who served as student regent for 2019-2020, is currently a senior kinesiology student and member of the TWU soccer team. D’Abrosca says she is grateful for the opportunity to give back to her university and has enjoyed fulfilling her role as student regent.

“Serving as student regent was a great honor and unique opportunity that led me to meet some of the most incredible people that our community has to offer,” she said.

Student regents serve a one-year term from June 1 through May 31. If interested in serving, students should review the qualifications and requirements thoroughly before submitting their name for consideration. Applications will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.

Campus interviews will begin in mid-January with recommendations submitted to the Chancellor in late-January. No later than February 1, two or more applicants will be submitted to the Governor.
