TWU Named Top 10 Gold Military Friendly School for 2023-2024
Dec. 5, 2023 — DENTON — For the first time, Texas Woman's University has been named a Top 10 Gold Military Friendly School among large public schools for the 2023-24 academic year.
The designation was awarded by Viqtory, an independent media organization that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities.
“We’re thrilled to receive the designation as a Top 10 Gold Military Friendly School,” said Amy O’Keefe, executive director of CARE “TWU is consistently recognized for providing exceptional service to our military members, veterans and military families, and we will continue to do so.”
Military Friendly School designations were based on six categories, including financial aid, academic policies, admissions, culture, graduation and support. TWU has been rated as a Military Friendly School since 2009.
According to Military Friendly, over 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey. From that group, 530 schools earned awards-level designations in gold, silver, and bronze. Two hundred and fifty were selected for “Gold” award status for their leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs. The Top 10 were selected from the gold group. TWU is the only Texas school included in the Top 10 for large public schools.
“Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the military community,” said Kayla Lopez, national director of military partnerships for Military Friendly. “This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages colleges to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, going over and above that standard.”
The announcement, which came out earlier in the year, was included in the October edition of G.I. Jobs magazine, which is published by Viqtory.
