TWU Housing reinstates residency requirement

Feb. 12, 2021 — DENTON — Texas Woman's University waived the on-campus residency requirement for first- and second-year students during the 2020-2021 academic year. However, the residency requirement has been reinstated for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year.

What does that mean? All full-time, single, undergraduate students who have not completed 60 credit hours and are under the age of 21 by the start of the Fall 2021 semester are required to live on campus unless one of the following exceptions apply:

  • Living with parents or legal guardians within the commuting distance (40 miles)
  • Active duty military or veterans of military service
  • Legally married
  • With children

What changes have been made to ensure safety? Housing now requires face coverings, provides virtual and in-person options for student engagement and wiill continue to emphasize sanitation and social distancing. Additionally, for the 2021-2022 academic year, Housing will increase the number of single-occupancy rooms in Stark Hall and will be remodeling Guinn.

When is sign up? Priority room selection for current residential students began Feb. 8. and new student room selection will be released in the coming weeks.
