The Games
Oakley Ball
PLAYERS
- Players must be TWU faculty/staff.
- Teams consist of 3 players each, divided into 2 groups of 3 (playing on separate goals against the other teams two groups).
EQUIPMENT
- No bare feet. Tennis shoes (that tie) must be worn. NO BLACK SOLES!
- Fit & Rec will provide all game equipment.
GAME SET-UP AND TIME
- Teams compete against each other at one basketball goal.
- Participants have multiple marked spots on the floor to choose from to earn points. Point values will be 1, 2, or 3, depending on difficulty.
COURT PLAY
- Players shoot 5 shots per person (so each team will have a total of 15 shots in each team). You do not have to shoot all shots from the same spot (player chooses a spot/point value on each shot).
- Each made basket earns the point value tied to the spot.
- Each team gets one bonus ball to shoot at the end of scoring. This shot will be taken by a selected team representative who will shoot from a designated spot while blindfolded. If this bonus shot is made, the team will add 6 points to their score.
SCORING
- Points for all made baskets are added up for the team total.
- See diagram on next page for scoring position details!

PLAYERS
- Players must be TWU students or faculty/staff.
- Teams consist of a minimum of 4 players each. Each SECC team will have 2 doubles teams playing in a round simultaneously.
EQUIPMENT
- No bare feet. Tennis shoes (that tie) must be worn. NO BLACK SOLES!
- Fitness and Recreation will provide all game equipment
GAME SET-UP AND TIME
- Each SECC team will have 2 doubles teams playing a single round simultaneously until all games have a winner by reaching 15 points or the time runs out.
COURT PLAY
- Players must hit the ball before it bounces or after one bounce (like tennis).
- Cannot step on the 7-foot line or inside it while making a volley (before the ball bounces). This area is called the no-volley zone or the “kitchen”. You can step in the kitchen to hit a ball after it bounces – but then need to get back out of the kitchen quickly.
- Serve must be underhand (below the waist with the end of the paddle angled down).
- Serve must land on the opposite side from the server and beyond the 7-foot line.
- Except for the 7-foot line, a ball landing on other lines is considered “in”.
- You can only strike the ball once each time it comes to your side (no double hitting).
- Exception: If you accidentally hit the ball twice in one steady swing, that is allowed.
- Players call the lines (in or out) on their own side. The official can be asked if in doubt.
ORDER OF PLAY
- Player on right side of court serves first (from behind the baseline). If point is won, players on the service team switch places and 1st server serves from the left side of court (continuing to switch until a point is lost). When a point is lost, players do not switch, and the 2nd partner serves until a point is lost. After the 2nd server loses a point, the serve goes to the other team.
- Exception: The first team to serve in a game only has one player serve before the serve goes to the other team.
- Note: Doubles partners only switch sides when they win a point while serving.
- The server should always call out the score before serving, saying the serving team’s score first, then the other team’s score, followed by a 1 or 2 to indicate whether they are the first person serving on their side or the second.
- The team returning a serve must let the serve bounce before hitting it.
- When a serve is returned, the serving team must also let the ball bounce before hitting it. After that hit, regular rules apply (both teams can volley or hit it on one bounce).
- A team loses a point if:
- They hit a ball into the net.
- They hit a ball outside the lines on the opposing side of the court.
- They fail to hit a ball before it bounces twice.
- They touch the ball with any part of their body before it bounces.
- They volley a ball before it bounces while the player is touching any part of the kitchen (including with the paddle or if their momentum from the hit carries them into the kitchen).
- They volley a ball before it bounces on a service return or on the first hit back to the serving team.
- If a stray ball or person from another court comes onto the court during play, the point should be stopped and replayed.
SCORING
- Doubles partners from 2 teams will play each other to a game of 15 points (1st to 15 wins; don’t have to win by 2). If time runs out before either team reaches 15 points, the team with the most points is declared the winner. A game that is tied at the end of the time limit will play one more point to break the tie.
- Rally scoring will be used – meaning a point is scored on every serve/rally. (Normal Pickleball only has points scored when you are serving.)
- Each SECC team will have 2 doubles teams playing in a round simultaneously. They will add up total points scored, plus 2 bonus points for each game won.
- If one team cannot field 2 doubles teams in a round and the other team can, the team with enough players will get a 15-0 forfeit for a game not played (but no bonus points)
Cornhole
Objective
Be the first team to reach (or exceed) a score of 21 points at the end of an inning of play.
Cornhole Equipment
All equipment will be provided by TWU Fit & Rec.
- Cornhole Boards: Standard cornhole boards are 2-ft. x 4-ft. The hole is positioned 9-in. from the top of the board, with a 6-in diameter.
- Cornhole Bags: Each team has four cornhole bags of contrasting colors. Cornhole bags should be 6-in x 6-in. and weigh approximately 1 pound.
- Cornhole Board Distance
Cornhole Rules
- Cornhole is played with two teams, each consisting of two players (doubles).
- Players pitch their bags in an underhand motion from the pitcher's box next to each side of the board.
- Players alternate turns tossing their cornhole bags toward the opposite board.
- After each team has pitched four bags, players take score, and resume pitching to the opposite board.
- The team who scored points in the previous inning goes first in the next inning. If it was tied, the team who went first in the last inning gets to go first again.
Cornhole Scoring
- A cornhole bag that goes through the hole is worth 3 points.
- A cornhole bag that lands on the board and stays there is worth 1 point.
- A cornhole bag that lands on the ground or bounces onto the board is worth 0 points.
- Cancellation Scoring: Only one team can score points per inning. The team with the higher score cancels out the points of the opposing team in that inning.
- Points Calculation: The team with the higher score in an inning earns the difference in points. For instance, if Team A scores 5 points and Team B scores 2 points in an inning, Team A earns 3 points for that inning.
Winning the Game
- The first team to reach or exceed 21 points at the conclusion of an inning is the winner OR the team with the highest score at the end of the allotted play time.
