A test score is a snapshot of one afternoon, not a blueprint of your entire future.

If you didn’t meet the college-readiness benchmarks, you're not "behind" — you're on a different path. At TWU, we don’t believe in "behind," we believe in preparing like a Pioneer.

Pioneer Prep is TWU's alternative pathways program for students who did not meet college-readiness benchmarks on:

The SAT, ACT, STAAR English III, or Algebra II EOCs
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2), the college-ready placement test required by the state of Texas
Or did not complete the high school College Preparatory Course

Choose Your Best Route

Every student is different, which is why Pioneer Prep offers a menu of options to get you into credit-bearing classes.

Feeling more confident now? You can always retake part or all sections of the TSIA2 placement.

You can take the test again through TWU's Academic Testing Services and may even be eligible for a voucher to retake it for free.

Want to dive into your degree sooner? Pair your credit-bearing English or Math course with a support course that ensures you stay on track.

A corequisite course offers you additional instructional support and is covered by financial aid.

Prefer to work at your own pace? EdReady is a self-paced learning platform. Once you pass, you're able to enroll in on-level, credit-bearing English or Math courses.

Pioneer Prep offers a limited number of vouchers for students to enroll in an EdReady course.

You may be eligible for a TSI waiver if you hold a Texas College Bridge certificate(s). To process your request, we will need official documentation of your completion. This can be:

A PDF or JPEG copy of your Texas College Bridge completion certificate, or
A confirmation email from EdReady or Texas College Bridge that you completed the EdReady course(s) with a successful passing score.

Email your documentation to testing1@twu.edu. Please include your first and last name (same as the TWU application) and your student ID (if known).

If you’ve cleared the TSIA2 or completed your Pioneer Prep pathway, the core courses are your next step.
